Blimey, no blog since the beginning of September, I'll have to do something about that...!

Duck Action Shot
Took a shedload of pics of HK views and the like but haven't uploaded them yet. Just so you know that in taking the pics I will upload tomorrow (back home!) I was mauled no less than 15 times by rogue insects and I am now covered from ankle to thigh in plasters.
In the meantime here is an action shot of our waiter cutting up our Peking duck for consumption with pankcakes etc. He did the whole folding pankcake thing with chopsticks - v. impressive! Shame he only did the first ones for us...
For me, I have to say with all honesty that the food's been OK, but nothing here in HK has topped our very own Famous Chinese in Letchworth Garden City.
Sometime in the next couple of days we will post our final blogs, along with a few more pics.
Now we've got to catch a plane!

London Bombings
We're taking a brief break from the holiday blog to express our shock and sadness at the events in London this morning.
Most of our friends and family have been accounted for. We're still waiting on a couple of people, but hopefully it's the mobile phone networks being down that are causing concern.
We will blog again tomorrow. Life has to go on and we've got a holiday to finish :)
Best wishes and stay safe,
R'n'C. x

Obscene portions
We had a mid afternoon snack here yesterday to escape the rain.
Eating their dessert pankcakes could kill you (if you ate them every day for about 5 years.) I recommend the crepes. They are truly great, albeit a cholesterol nightmare.

Back in Oz again...
We're back in Oz, this time in Sydney. So far we've managed to lose some money (don't wory, not that much, Mum) at the casino, eat Chinese food and not much else, but we'll have more to report in the next few days.

Smelly smelly Rotarura...
Rotarua is smelly. Very smelly. The smell (of suphur) permeates *everywhere* - clothes, hotel rooms, up our noses. We stayed at a nice hotel by Lake Rotarua but that didn't stop both R and myself waking up loads in the night because it was so smelly. Ugh.
Taupo, land of steaming piles...
...of mud.
This is "Craters of the Moon" at Taupo. All the smoky stuff you can see is steam coming up through naturally created vents in the ground after the nearby power station lowered underground water levels in the 1950s and affected the geography in the area around it. The vents come in the form of fumeroles and craters and some of these gurgle away loudly.
It's called "Craters of the Moon" because somebody thought it looked "other worldly". Actually it just looks like someone's blown a load of holes in the ground on Earth, but it's very interesting and quite weird.
