Duck Action Shot

Took a shedload of pics of HK views and the like but haven't uploaded them yet. Just so you know that in taking the pics I will upload tomorrow (back home!) I was mauled no less than 15 times by rogue insects and I am now covered from ankle to thigh in plasters.

In the meantime here is an action shot of our waiter cutting up our Peking duck for consumption with pankcakes etc. He did the whole folding pankcake thing with chopsticks - v. impressive! Shame he only did the first ones for us...

For me, I have to say with all honesty that the food's been OK, but nothing here in HK has topped our very own Famous Chinese in Letchworth Garden City.

Sometime in the next couple of days we will post our final blogs, along with a few more pics.

Now we've got to catch a plane!

Big Buddha

Australia has the Big Pineapple, the Big Sheep and the Big Macadamia.
New Zealand has the Big Golfball and the Big Fish.
Hong Kong has the Big Buddha. It's bigger than the other big things.

London Bombings

We're taking a brief break from the holiday blog to express our shock and sadness at the events in London this morning.

Most of our friends and family have been accounted for. We're still waiting on a couple of people, but hopefully it's the mobile phone networks being down that are causing concern.

We will blog again tomorrow. Life has to go on and we've got a holiday to finish :)

Best wishes and stay safe,

R'n'C. x

Sunny.

It has been sunny today, which made a change. So I spent the day indoors. I may not know art but I know what I like. The month turned into July overnight, causing us to reflect that this extended sojourn to the otherside of the world is rapidly drawing to a close. Looking at this positively I guess this means the UK summer is nearly over and winter will be charming us again. Hoorah.

I am wearing shorts.

No Sydney pics just yet...

In the absence of any Sydney pics yet (I haven't uploaded the first lot yet) here's a nice picture of a koala I took at Currumbin about a month ago.

Obscene portions

We had a mid afternoon snack here yesterday to escape the rain.

Eating their dessert pankcakes could kill you (if you ate them every day for about 5 years.) I recommend the crepes. They are truly great, albeit a cholesterol nightmare.

Weather conspiracies.

Well, hello from sunny Sydney. Actually, not that sunny. It has been raining most of the past week (which I find deeply amusing given the state of the UK summer). Anyhoo, I guess it must be someone else's fault, having come across this recently. [hopefully the link will still be working].

Otherwise, yes. Sydney. Hmm...it is a big enough city [but not stupendously big] that most useful services exist i.e. public transport, emergency services, pizza delivery. Tall buildings, smelly people, nutters, smilers, frowners, shoppers. Interestingly, the suited asswipe exists here too.

Laterz.

Back in Oz again...

We're back in Oz, this time in Sydney. So far we've managed to lose some money (don't wory, not that much, Mum) at the casino, eat Chinese food and not much else, but we'll have more to report in the next few days.
